1/25/19–UPDATE 645pm ……Dave pre-rode Superbowl in the Boulder Creek area but there isn’t enough snow to cover the alders to get up there yet, so HE’S CHANGING THE DESTINATION AND SKILL LEVEL tomorrow !
Dave Agosti will now be leading an intermediate skill level ride to Nelchina Glacier near the Eureka Roadhouse. Meet at 930am in the Eureka Lodge MP 128 on the Glenn Highway and parking lot and be ready to ride at 10:15am. Tesoro gas is available at the roadhouse. Drive is 2.5-3.0 hours from Anchorage in good weather. Gas and oil topped off and bring a sack lunch and camera adv-intermediate to advanced skill level ride into what’s called “Superbowl” in the Boulder Creek area of the Talkeetna Mountains. Meet in the big pullout parking lot at MP90 on the GLENN Highway north at 10am and be ready to ride soon after. We’ll be riding up the creekbed and into the mountains, so have full gas and oil tanks and sack lunch. Drive time from Anchorage about 1.75 hours with dry roads.
THIS IS AN ADVANCED-INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED SKILL RIDE–we’ll be riding in deep powder and some steep terrain.
