(update 3/16: the winds are predicted to die down to 5mph by Friday night/Saturday so we should be ok. Highs in the 20’s with sunshine is mentioned. The route up has been tracked-up enough that it won’t be a “technical” ride so this is now an intermediate skill level ride. Do expect to ride up ascending hills and possible “side-hilling” and some possible icy spots; however although with the wind blowing earlier this week would help to recover that–which there’s PLENTY of snow for this spring !!!)
Day Ride to High Country in South Denali !!! We’ll ride the scenic mountain-benches of South Denali on this popular club ride. THIS EXPOSED-LOCATION RIDE IS SUBJECT TO WEATHER CONTINGENCIES, so please be sure to check the hotline 689-7777 as there will be an update about weather and this ride by 7pm Friday 3/17. (Always check the hotline just before departing for any ride too in case of an emergency !)
We’ll meet at MP121.5 parking lot (just north of Trapper Creek) at 930am and depart at 10am. This ride typically is 90 miles and an INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED SKILL LEVEL RIDE because we will be climbing some twisting hills. We should be back to the cars by 5pm latest.
Be certain to have full gas and oil on this one (good sled maintenance too because you’ll be working your sled harder), a sack lunch and beverage for the trail and your camera. Great views !
