(due to lacking Snowtrac budget  because less people registering their sleds, trail grooming will commence in January 2019.  We’ll regroup then so stay tuned for rescheduling)

Weather and snow condition-dependent, we’ll cruise the South Denali trails looking for Alders (brush) sticking up through the snow that Randy (Alaska Snow Cat) just groomed for the first time this season.  All along the way, we’re going to take “side-trips” here and there to frolic and play in the powder (NOT required), so this is not all work all day—a great familiarization trip too of the South Denali Winter-Use trail system !

It’s most helpful if you bring brush-cutters such as “lopers” and saws, chainsaws not necessary but could come in handy if we find fallen trees in the trails.  What we’re trying to do here is cut off the Alders that stick back up through the first groomed snow and they’re small bushes with branches about 3/4″ in diameter, nothing heavy.  If we find branches hanging out over the trails that present a hazard, we may get those too.  But the idea is to ride as much of the trail system in one day knocking out the “worst offenders” so dress accordingly.

Bring a sack lunch and beverage.  This ride is intermediate skill level for the early season conditions.  (Deep-snow riding skills are not required unless there is a big snow storm just before this event).

Meet at MP121.5 on the Parks Highway, just 7 miles north of Trapper Creek 4-way flashing light for Petersville Road intersection (gas available at Talkeetna Tesoro and Trapper Creek Trading Post) at 930am and be ready to ride at 10am
