“High Country” viewpoint in South Denali is an amazing perch in the plateau-foothills of South Denali and there is no avalanche danger on this ascent route. RSVP participation to 907-242-0808 via text or call.
This is an intermediate skill-level ride but familiarity needed with ascending and descending hill pitches and potential side-hilling depending on available routes. We’ll be in Denali State Park so SNOWMACHINE REGISTRATION WITH CURRENT DECALS IS REQUIRED….the $10 reg fee goes to the grooming pool anyway: http://doa.alaska.gov/dmv/reg/snow.htm
Meet at MP121.5 parking lot on the Parks Highway be ready to ride at 10:30am. We’ll head up Chulitna Bluff Trail to cross the highway at MP131 and over towards the Tokisitna Valley where we’ll head off the main trail to ascend the foothills. Total miles around 70 for the day, we should be back to the cars NLT 5pm. Bring a full gas and oil tank, extra gas jug recommended.
