Ride:  Big lake to Luce’s Lodge (on the Yentna River) Luce's back to Big Lake.

Date - Saturday February 25th

This a Day ride for intermediate riders due to the mileage of this ride

Mileage expected to be around 95 miles+

Start time 9:30am Sharp at the Big lake north state park recreational site

Driving Directions to the State Park: From mile 52.3 Parks Highway, take the Big Lake Road 3.6 miles to "Y", take North Shore Drive 1.4 miles to end of road.

We will be riding from Big Lake parking lot down trail 5 to the Yentna River. Up the Yentna river to Luce's Lodge We will be breaking for lunch and top off with fuel and heading back to Big Lake. The plan is to enter on to the Big Susitna river upstream (we will be following the Iditarod trail going to Luce's) from the Yentna River on the way to Luce's. Expect about 50 miles one way. On the way back the plan is to cross the Susitna River Just below the Yentna River and head towards trail 5 and back to the parking lot at Big Lake. There will be lots of swamps and groomed trails to ride on the way. Do to the mileage I would like to leave the parking lot at 9:30 Sharp. Some of the trails we will be riding on will be part of the Iditarod trail so we most likely will encounter Dog teams on the trail training just as we are leaving out of Big Lake. Please bring fuel (for those who want to play) and snacks. At Luce's we will be breaking for a short lunch and topping off the machines with fuel (I plan on contacting the lodge prior to leaving and have food ready for us on arrival for anyone who is interested). The cost for parking at Big Lake is $5.00 for the day.
